Our Story
The Hairston Foundation (HF) is a non-profit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, engaged in statewide programming and policy work. The mission of HF is to address the needs of a growing population of underserved citizens living at or below the poverty level in Philadelphia and other urban areas. Our values begin with honoring the intrinsic dignity, autonomy and worth of each person. In pursuit of this mission, we are committed to pursuing the highest possible standards at every level of the organization. We strive to become the benchmark through innovation and initiative. We choose to serve first, embracing our roles as servant leaders in our organization and our community.
Our objective is to become a resource of access and opportunity in all underserved communities.
Who We Are
Our Vision
Through The Hairston Foundation, our board and partners, it is our goal to strategically assist others who may be living in the crossroads of poverty and hopelessness, or simply burdens that are too heavy for them to carry alone. Together, we know that people of good faith (Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and those with a sincere desire to help someone else walking along life’s path) can and will partner with us to help one person at a time to rise above their present circumstances and to a better tomorrow. This is the story that we will write together.
